First night on the pillow, and it felt great. You sink into the pillow nice. Real snug. Impressed.

    Yeah, I enjoyed it too.

Also used it SOLO and it held up well.

Been running the pillow for month and its sensational. They are now giving me 30% off on a new mattress which is tempting.

How firm do you all go on mattresses?

I think mine might be contributing to/causing my back pain. It's a hybrid one with memory foam on top but it's quite soft and I sink into it a bit. I thought softer ones were meant to be good for side sleepers. It's only just under five years old so shouldn't really need replacing yet. But I wake up every morning with my back being sore and then it lessens during the day.

I slept on a very firm one last week and didn't have any pain in the mornings.

    Getting old is shit.

Firm. There's nothing worse than a mattress that swallows you. all of your mothers on the other hand...

I did a home visit with an Indian bloke a couple of months ago that has slept on the floor since his wife died, 15 years ago. He still has the bed they shared. But he'll never share it again. Not even with himself.

He saw the look on my face and assured me that he "isn't crazy", which was good enough for me.

I resolved to buy a new mattress today for the exact same reasons. Leaning over to brush my teeth in the morning hurts, but by the time I'm showered it's fine, so it can't be any actual physical issue beyond a bollocks mattress.

I've heard that sleeping on the floor is actually really good for you and also really aids your recovery from aches and pains.

It is insofar as it's probably just knackered. I slept on a FIRM mattress for three nights in Rome that had zero give in it (and I'm reasonably heavy), and I was waking up with a dead leg and doubled over, so I think there must be sweet spot some way below that.

Bought a fancy new mattress yesterday. Picking it up later in the week as I can pick it up quicker than they can deliver it.

Still need a new bed/base though. Getting one of those quickly is a right hassle. No one stocks them because they're all so customisable with colours and drawers and shit. And I don't want a bedfeame with those wooden slats as that's what I currently have and I think it's half the problem.

Mattress on the floor for a few weeks it is then.

Divan with as many drawers as possible for storage.

As someone who semi regularly falls asleep on the floor, after calming the kids back to sleep, I can assure you it is not.

You need to do it for a few days to a week for your body to get used to it.
